Smile design in Miami, planned around your face
Smile design in Miami means deciding the shape, size, color and position of your teeth before anything is made, using your face as the guide. At Miami Perfect Smile the plan usually ends in porcelain veneers made by our own ceramists and fitted in two visits.

What smile design means
Smile design, also called a smile makeover, is the planning stage behind cosmetic work on several teeth. Before choosing a material, the dentist studies how your teeth sit in your face: where the center of your smile falls against the middle of your face, how much gum shows when you smile, the curve of your lower lip, and the width and length of each front tooth. Published reviews of smile esthetics use the same points to judge whether a smile looks balanced.
The plan decides what needs to change and what should stay. For some people that means whitening and a few veneers. Others need gum treatment or orthodontics first. At Miami Perfect Smile the smile makeover is built on porcelain veneers: ten on the upper teeth, ten on the lower, or both.
Dr. Helen Carmenate, whose focus is smile design, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, leads the design. She works with our in-house master ceramists, so the person who drew your smile can talk to the people who make it while it is being made.
- Planned shape. The new outline of each tooth, drawn over your current teeth before anything is made. This is the preview you see before you decide.
- Center line. The design places the middle of your smile against the middle of your face, here closing the gap between the two front teeth.
- Your current teeth. Still visible under the plan, so you can compare length, width and color.
- Gum line. How much gum shows when you smile is part of the plan. If too much shows, a gum procedure may come first.
Who a smile makeover is for
People who want to change several teeth at once and have healthy teeth and gums to build on.
- Gaps between teeth. Veneers can close spaces that make the smile look uneven.
- Deep stains. Coffee or tobacco staining that whitening cannot lift is covered rather than bleached.
- Old fillings or bonding that no longer match. The new veneers give the front teeth one shade again.
- Teeth of different shapes or sizes. The design evens out short, narrow or irregular teeth.
- Mildly crooked teeth. Small rotations can be masked when braces are not wanted or not needed.
- Broken, chipped or cracked teeth. Damaged front teeth are rebuilt as part of the same plan.
When we suggest something else. Cavities and gum disease are treated before any veneer is placed. If your teeth are crowded or your bite is off, orthodontics may come first. If too much gum shows when you smile, a gum procedure may be part of the plan. If you grind your teeth, we will talk about a night guard to protect the veneers.

What smile design costs in Miami
A smile makeover with porcelain veneers starts at $5,500 for the upper arch and $4,500 for the lower. Both arches together, 20 veneers, start at $9,000. That covers the initial exam, X-rays and photographs, and the work of our in-house master ceramists.
These are starting points. The final price depends on how many teeth are treated and on anything you need first, such as fillings, gum treatment or whitening. Cosmetic veneers are generally not covered by insurance, but restorative treatment often is, and we check your plan with you.

Recovery and aftercare
- Back to normal the same day. You can eat and drink once any numbness wears off. Some people notice sensitivity to hot and cold for a while.
- Brush and floss every day. Use a soft brush and a nonabrasive fluoride toothpaste twice a day and floss once a day. The teeth under the veneers can still decay.
- Chew with care. Cut hard or crunchy food into pieces, chew it with your back teeth and never use your teeth to open packages.
- Protect them at night. If you clench or grind, ask us about a night guard.
- Skip whitening products. They do not change the color of porcelain and can scratch the surface.
- Keep your checkups. Regular cleanings let us check the edges of each veneer and the health of your gums.
What patients ask before deciding
What is a smile makeover?
It is a plan to change several teeth at once so the smile fits your face. It can combine whitening, gum work, orthodontics and veneers. At Miami Perfect Smile it usually means porcelain veneers on the upper teeth, the lower teeth or both, designed before anything is made.
How much does a smile makeover cost in Miami?
With us, porcelain veneers start at $5,500 for the upper arch, $4,500 for the lower and $9,000 for both, or from $209 a month with financing. The final price depends on your case and is confirmed at your first visit.
How long does a smile makeover take?
Two visits: one for the exam and design, one to fit the veneers. When no other treatment is needed first, they are about a week apart. Gum treatment, fillings or orthodontics add time before the veneers.
Can I see my new smile before I commit?
Yes. At the first visit we show you a preview of the design built from your photographs and digital images, so you see the result before you decide.
Do my teeth and gums need to be healthy first?
Yes. Veneers are only an option when you are free of extensive cavities and gum disease. If you need fillings or gum treatment, we do that first and then start the design.
Will the veneers damage my natural teeth?
Porcelain veneers need some enamel removed from the front of each tooth, and enamel does not grow back. They preserve more of your own tooth than a crown, which covers the whole tooth. We show you what preparation your case needs before you agree to anything.
Can I get an opinion before traveling to Miami?
Yes. Send photographs of your smile through the online consultation form and one of our doctors will tell you what is realistic, what it is likely to involve and roughly what it will cost, before you book any travel.
